Hobby Terraristik
The family business Dohse Aquaristik was founded by Hans Dohse in 1949. The focus of their interest is on creating the most ideal natural environment for animals. Innovations have been an important part of the company's design from the very beginning. The brands HOBBY-Aquaristik, HOBBY-Terraristik, DUPLA and DuplaMarin are part of the company with a very wide range of products. Dohse aims to stand by the specialist trade as a reliable partner. Dohse wrote the history of aquarium keeping and can look back on 110 years of experience and is today a modern family-owned company in the third generation, with 45 employees and around 1,300 products. Dohse Aquaristik developed from a hobby of the founder Hans Dohse which made the breeding of Artemia possible for the first time. In 1998, the current managing partner, Axel Pinders, moved the company headquarters to a plot of land of 10,000 m2 where today almost 1,300 finished products and 4,000 production pieces are stored. In 2004, Dohse Aquaristik took over DUPLA, the former market leader for plant care in aquariums. This brand covers a range of high-quality products and has therefore fit perfectly into the Dohse range. In 2007, a range of products for marine aquariology was developed under the DuplaMarin brand.
In 2009 the company celebrated its 60th anniversary.
Aquaristica is now the sole distributor of Dohse in Italy.
